GuruFocus' Economic Indicators pages tracks more than 4,600 economic indicators across several categories, including market trends; production & business activity; prices; money, banking & finance; population, employment & labor markets; national accounts and international data.
To access the economic indicator pages, click on the “Economic Data” icon underneath the “Market” tab of the GuruFocus menu bar, as Figure 1 illustrates. Figure 2 shows a sample of the top section of the economic indicator homepage.

Homepage sections
Figure 3 illustrates the GuruFocus Market Valuation, Market Overview and Treasury Yield Curve sections of the homepage.

The Market Valuation section includes charts for Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.A)(BRK.B) CEO Warren Buffett (Trades, Portfolio)’s favorite market indicator and the projected market return for more than 20 global markets based on Buffett’s market valuation concept. The section also includes a Shiller price-earnings chart and the S&P 500 GF Value chart.
The Market Overview section allows you to view information on global price indexes, top U.S.-stocks based on market cap, major commodities and bond yields for global countries. Likewise, the Treasury Yield Curve section gives you the Treasury constant maturity rates for specific time periods.
As Figure 4 illustrates, the Global Economy Overview section gives you a summary table for key economic indicators across more than 20 global markets.

Categories pages
Click on a category name on the homepage to view the subcategories and economic indicators for a specific category. Figure 5 illustrates an example for the “Production & Business Activity” category.

As you click through the list of categories and subcategories, you will access the individual economic indicator page. You can also search for a specific indicator using the “Search for Economic Indicator” field, as shown in Figure 1 above. Figure 6 illustrates a sample individual economic page for the S&P 500 Earnings per Share.

Individual economic indicator pages
As Figure 6 illustrates, the individual economic indicator page shows a chart and a historical data table. To change the time period, click on one of the buttons in the “3M, 6M, YTD” row. You can also mark the U.S. recession periods or view the chart as values, percent changes or year-over-year percent changes.
Click on the “±σ” symbol to view the typical range for the economic indicator, defined as one standard deviation away from the historical mean.
The individual economic indicator page also includes a “related indicators” section that allows you to add additional economic indicators to the chart. Figure 7 illustrates the “related indicators” section while Figure 8 shows a chart containing the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor’s 500 index.
