Ladies and gentlemen, as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, I herewith open this year's Annual General Meeting of Evonik Industries AG. Pursuant to Article XIX of the Articles of Association of this company, I will chair this meeting.

On behalf of the members of the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board, I would like to welcome our shareholders, our shareholder proxies, the press and our guests. A very warm welcome to everyone to our Annual General Meeting.

My greetings also go to the notary public, Dr. Begemann, who will notarize today's Annual General Meeting. Dr. Begemann is seated next to me to your left. He is supported by notary public, Dr. Galla, who is seated at the speakers' registration desk to your right at the rostrum where I am seated.
