Michael Price Profile
Michael Price is a renowned money manager who learned finance as a $200-a-week research assistant under Max Heine at Heine Securities. After Heine died in 1988, he bought the company and managed to increase its assets under management to $17 billion before selling it to Franklin Securities in 1996. He continued on as chairman of the company until 2001, when he left and founded his own investing firm, MFP Investors LLC.
Michael Price Investing Philosophy
Price has a value based approach to investing. He buys stocks in out-of-favor small cap companies that he believes are good value opportunities. Price earned a reputation for buying undervalued companies and raising their value through shareholder activism. He has often tussled with the management of companies held in his portfolios.
