Walmart China has confirmed significant leadership changes at Sam's Club. Andrew Miles, the current Vice CEO of Walmart China and President of Sam's Club, will retire on January 31, 2025. Jane Ewing, currently the Senior Vice President of Operations for Walmart International, will assume his role. Ewing joined Walmart in 2012 and has held various positions, including Chief Human Resources Officer and Senior Vice President of Global Sustainability.

Under Miles' leadership, Sam's Club China expanded from 8 to over 50 stores and increased membership fees, enhancing member shopping experiences and renewal rates. As of September 2023, the average annual spending per member was 13,000 RMB, with a renewal rate above 60%.

Sam's Club China has seen sales exceed 85 billion RMB in 2024, with membership fees alone generating over 2.2 billion RMB. The company has also shifted its e-commerce operations to report to CMO Zhang Qing, reflecting its strategic focus on online growth, which accounted for about 47% of sales in 2023.
