Tesla's official robotics account recently unveiled a new development for Black Friday: an advanced robotic hand for its Optimus robot. In a video demonstration, the robot skillfully catches and releases a tennis ball, showcasing its impressive dexterity. This new hand is a standout feature of the second-generation Optimus robot.
According to Tesla engineer Milan Kovac, the hand offers a milestone level of advancement, featuring double the degrees of freedom compared to its predecessor. The new hand and forearm possess 22 degrees of freedom in the hand and three in the wrist and forearm. Kovac mentioned that the video demonstration was conducted in a lab via real-time remote operation. Tesla plans to soon manufacture robots equipped with this advanced hand.
