Most consumers do not give Apple (AAPL, Financials) devices as holiday gifts, a survey from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners reveals.
Based on the Christmas season of last year, the poll revealed that only a tiny portion of participants presented an Apple gift. Of those who did, Apple Watch and iPad were the most probable items given; iPhones and Mac PCs were seldom picked.
According to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners' Wednesday findings, 9% of Apple Watch customers received the watch as a gift while 6% of iPad owners got the tablet. On the other hand, only around 1% of Mac or iPhone users said they had received such as presents.
"iPhones are an unlikely gift, as the phone is just the beginning before someone (presumably the recipient) becomes responsible for ongoing mobile carrier charges," CIRP said. "Giving an iPhone as a gift is kind of like giving someone a puppy. Mac computers are also rarely gifted. They are both expensive and personal, often needing to meet specific needs."
With the introduction of iOS 18.2, which will have more Apple Intelligence capabilities, financial companies had predicted a possible increase in Apple iPhone sales this quarter. CIRP's results, however, imply that although iPads and Apple Watches enjoy a little increase throughout the season, iPhones and Mac computers are not very popular alternatives for Christmas presents.
