Automaker Stellantis has announced plans to temporarily suspend operations at several assembly and engine plants in Italy next month due to sluggish market demand, weak electric vehicle (EV) sales, and increased competition from overseas markets. The affected facilities include those producing the Fiat Panda.

According to Stellantis, the planned shutdowns will occur on select days between November 11 and 29, impacting the Pomigliano d'Arco, Termoli, and Pratola Serra plants. The company has already informed labor unions and is collaborating with them to ensure employee rights are protected during the shutdown period.

Stellantis is currently grappling with industry-wide challenges, such as low demand for more expensive EVs and competition from Chinese manufacturers. Additionally, the company is addressing issues related to excess inventory in the United States, which has led to a downward revision of its profit and cash flow forecasts.
