Siemens to Acquire Altair Engineering for $10 Billion, Boosting Software Portfolio

Siemens AG has announced an agreement to acquire Altair Engineering Inc. for an enterprise value of $10 billion. This acquisition is a strategic move for the German engineering giant as it shifts towards a software-driven product line with higher profit margins.

As per the official statement, Siemens will pay Altair investors $113 per share, marking the company's largest acquisition to date. The transaction is expected to close in the latter half of 2025 and represents a 19% premium over Altair's closing price on October 21st, the last trading day before reports of the potential acquisition surfaced.

Altair, headquartered in Troy, Michigan, has seen its stock (ALTR, Financial) rise by 29% this year, closing at $108.63 per share recently, with a market capitalization of approximately $9.3 billion. The acquisition deal values Altair's equity at $10.6 billion.
