At Microsoft's (MSFT, Financial) annual shareholder meeting, a proposal to consider investing in Bitcoin was rejected. The proposal, submitted by the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR), suggested evaluating Bitcoin as a balance sheet asset for its potential benefits, including being a strong inflation hedge and outperforming corporate bonds. Despite arguments from NCPPR and MicroStrategy's co-founder Michael Saylor, who advocated for Bitcoin's potential to boost Microsoft's stock value significantly, the board recommended against it. They cited a preference for less volatile investments, aligning with their financial strategy. Ultimately, shareholders sided with the board, choosing not to pursue Bitcoin investments.
