Microsoft's (MSFT, Financial) major shareholders have voted against a proposal to invest 1% of the company's total assets in Bitcoin. This proposal, put forward by the National Center for Public Policy Research, aimed to use Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation. Microsoft's board had previously advised shareholders to reject the suggestion.
During the annual meeting, MicroStrategy Chairman Michael Saylor made a brief attempt to persuade Microsoft shareholders to back the proposal, highlighting his company's substantial investment in Bitcoin. However, Microsoft's largest shareholders, including institutional investors like Vanguard and BlackRock, opposed the idea.
