A federal jury in Marshall, Texas, has ruled in favor of computer memory company Netlist in its patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung Electronics. The jury awarded Netlist $118 million in damages.
Netlist filed the lawsuit against Samsung in 2022, alleging that the tech giant's memory modules used in cloud computing servers and other data-intensive technologies infringed on Netlist's patents. The jury also determined that Samsung's infringement was willful, which could potentially lead the judge to triple the damages awarded.
Samsung has denied the allegations, arguing that the patents in question are invalid and that its technology differs from Netlist's inventions.
