Driven by growing hybrid car demand and ongoing strength in truck sales, Ford Motor Co. (F, Financials) stated in October 2024 a 15.2% year-over-year increase in U.S. vehicle sales, with total sales reaching 172,756 units. Sales is the year thus far are up 3.8% to 1.72 million units.

Sales of hybrid cars jumped 38.5% in October to 18,224 units; internal combustion engine sales increased 14.1% to 148,268 units. Still, sales of electric cars dropped 8.3% from year before, accounting for 6,264 units.

With 100,847 units, trucks witnessed a noteworthy 29.2% year-over-year rise in the breakdown by type; SUV sales climbed by 2.3% to 69,221 units. With a 37% drop, car sales came to 2,688 units for the month.

Driven mostly by vehicles like the F-Series, which saw a 26.1% gain to 67,504 units, the Ford brand saw a 14.2% rise in sales, totaling 163,407 units. Especially, sales of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup decreased by almost half year over year. Rising to 5,231 units, the Ranger experienced notable increase with a 1,054.7% rise.

Among SUVs, the Ford Bronco saw a significant rise of 104.7% while Mustang Mach-E sales surged 21.3% to 3,313 units.

Sales of the Lincoln brand rose 36%; SUV models such as the Aviator and Nautilus led growth at 37.6% and 116.4%, respectively.
