Al Gore Investing Philosophy
Generation Investment Management focuses on a long term investment perspective, focusing on sustainability within markets with companies that strategically manage their economic, social, and environmental performances; a systematic view of global challenges considering all inputs, costs, and externalities; and believing that sustainable development is economically transformative.
Generation has isolated a variety of “key drivers of global change” including climate change and environmental degradation; poverty and development; water and natural resource scarcity; pandemics and healthcare, and demographics, migration and urbanization, believing that these global challenges can both create risks and opportunities that are able to significantly affect a company’s performance.
The firm utilizes a fundamental analysis and a bottom up investment strategy, investing in a variety of public equity markets on a global scale. Generation invests most heavily in the information technology sector, which alone makes up almost half of its total asset allocations, and the firm also invests in the health care, finance, and industrials sectors, among others to a lesser degree, in order of decreasing allocation.
